St. Martin / St. Maarten - Entry Requirements, Customs

In addition to local St. Martin / St. Maarten entry requirements, your air or sea carrier may request additional documentation for passengers. Please check with your carrier in advance of travel. Valid passports are required for all US, Canadian and European citizens traveling as tourists to the island.

For citizens of other countries, a visa may be required in addition to a passport. A return or ongoing ticket is required of all visitors.

No vaccination papers are required unless arriving from an endemic area.

Items for personal use are admitted without formalities or tax if not in excessive quantity.

Cats and dogs may be admitted temporarily with a certificate of good health issued not more than 10 days prior to arrival on the island, and proof of an anti-rabies inoculation issued by a licensed veterinarian from the country of origin within 30 days of arrival. For additional information, please contact the island's Tourist Office. Certification requirements may vary dependent upon whether you enter on the French or Dutch side of the island. For hotels and other accommodations, please check in advance regarding their policies on pets.
