Marie-Galante Flights, Airlines, Ferry Boats
FLIGHTS
In the past, local carriers offered numerous convenient flights to Marie-Galante. Unfortunately, there is currently no regularly scheduled air service from Guadeloupe. Charter flights may be available. Please check with the Marie-Galante Tourist Office for current updates and information.
FERRY BOATS
Ferry boat service between Guadeloupe and Marie-Galante is offered by several island companies. Most boats depart from Pointe-à-Pitre, with several scheduled crossings throughout the day. There is more limited service from St. François. The trip between Pointe-à-Pitre or St. François (Guadeloupe) and the towns of St. Louis or Grand-Bourg (Marie-Galante) takes about 45-60 minutes. More limited service is also available between Marie-Galante and Les Saintes, primarily at the height of the tourist season (mid-December to mid-May).
Seasoned sailors should have no problem, but those who are not experienced should be aware that sometimes the seas can be rough. It's suggested that those prone to sea sickness forego a visit to the bar before departure or on the ferry, and consider readily available medications.
